In the New Testament, we see a life like no other -- Jesus the Ultimate Warrior. Through His miraculous birth, unjustifiable death, and victorious resurrected life, He compels us to radical change in our beliefs and how we live.
Through His extraordinary acts of love, Jesus conquered death and fulfilled the Law of Moses with two primary commands.
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
Mark 12:30-31
In the Gospels and the Book of Acts, we see ordinary men become Warriors.
As eyewitnesses to His Majesty, they saw firsthand the life of Jesus, born of the flesh. Breaking the barrier between God and man, shining His glorious light of grace upon their broken human condition.
Simon Peter - Jesus calls, Petera or 'Rock', even after he denied Him, three times.
John - One of the first to believe in the resurrection and later writes the Book of Revelation.
Paul - A ruthless persecutor of Christians is radically changed after being blinded by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I identify with these courageous Warriors from the Bible.
I am emboldened and strengthened by God's Warrior Heart for us.
Another warrior I've been inspired by is Joan of Arc.
Her story is truly an amazing one.
Joan of Arc as a young girl received visitations, and at the young age of seventeen, became a Warrior on behalf of France. Her mission was to lead a small army to free France from its long-running war with England and to see the prince crowned King Charles VII. Sadly, Joan was captured by Anglo-Burgundian forces, who had sided with the British, sold her to the English, and then tried her for witchcraft and heresy. She was burned at the stake in 1431, at the age of nineteen.
"Go forward Bravely. Fear nothing. Trust in God; all will be well."
